Waste Authority

The Perth Building and Construction Industry hit the red carpet for the Master Builders BankWest Housing Excellence Awards recently and as always their annual gala event drew a huge crowd. The Awards are designed to recognise excellence in all aspects of WA housing from Trades through to Customer Service.

Nominees must meet strict criteria to even be in the running and entrants are judged by a panel of their peers, solely on the quality of their workmanship.

This year’s big winner was the consumer, with the 2015 Best Display Home being won by Home Buyers Centres for a home under $190,000. This is the first time in the Awards’ 35 year history that this category has been won by a home at this price point and it’s great news for first home buyers. It means that first time home owners can now access a home of award-winning quality

Not only did Home Buyers Centre keep costs down, they also keep waste to a minimum and picked up the award for Excellence in Recycling for 2015, which is supported by the Waste Authority.

This is the second year running that Home Buyers Centre has won this award and it represents a company-wide drive to follow better practice in recycling. Utilising a mix of methods, Home Buyers Centre have contracted the services of Instant Waste and Earthcare Recycling to limit waste to landfill.

The Master Builders Housing Excellence Awards recognise excellence in building and construction and this year the real winner is reduced waste and increased value, which has got to be a win for the consumer.
