Scott’s Australia – Osmocote Controlled Release Plant Starter

Planting must be one of the most enjoyable parts of gardening, whether it is in the ground or in pots. But it is important to do it successfully and if you are like me and you love your plants then you should also give them the best possible chance to grow and flourish.

The formative first weeks and months of a newly planted plants life are some of the most important. So what is the best way to help your new plants to settle in better?

The new Osmocote Controlled Release Plant Starter from Scotts will take care of all of your new plants and trees to provide the best possible start at planting, and provides for a faster establishment in their new environment.

Plant Starter is a special combination of Osmocote controlled release plant food, seaweed, fish, organic bio-stimulants and a wetting agent designed to make planting much easier and more successful.

When planting always dig a hole twice as wide as the pot and slightly deeper than depth of the pot. Add some compost and a small handful of Plant Starter to the bottom of the hole and then mix it into the soil. Check that the plant is at the same height as it was in the pot and then start backfilling with soil and compost and mix in some Plant Starter as you go.

Plant Starter contains the original Osmocote controlled release fertiliser granules that release nutrients when plants need them most. Each prill contains a balanced dose of Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium with added trace elements, which last for up to 6 months. It works in harmony with nature to give your plants the nutrients they need, just when they need them, less in winter and more in active growing periods so that there is no wastage or leaching.

Osmocote Plant Starter includes added organic matter such as bio-stimulants, seaweed and fish to organically enrich the soil and encourage beneficial microbial and earthworm activity. The additional soil wetting agent enhances the absorption and penetration of water into the soil and will help your plants to take up more nutrients from the soil.

Osmocote Plant Starter can also be used when planting up pots and containers like this one here. I’m using some succulents including Aeonium, Cotyledon and Crassula to create an interesting and colourful display.

Remember to always use a premium potting mix when planting up any pots or containers. First add some mix to partially fill the container to the depth of the pots of the plants to be potted. Next add a small handful of Plant Starter to the potting mix and blend it into the mix. Again check the height of the plants so that they sit level with the inner rim. Backfill with potting mix and mix in another small handful of Plant Starter as you go. Plant Starter also contains seaweed; a natural soil and plant tonic and conditioner that improves resistance to stress and helps plants to recover quicker from transplant shock.

If you love your plants whether you are potting or planting make sure that you give them the best start in life, the new Scotts Osmocote Controlled Release Plant Starter. Scotts Osmocote Plant Starter is available at Bunnings stores and you can find out more at scottsaustralia.com.au.
