This is a great time of the year to get out and revitalise your garden. There are many superb nurseries throughout Western Australia, but NO garden centres quite like this. The Dutch Windmill Garen & Gift Centre & Koffee Shoppe in Jandakot, is not a place where you’ll call in for a punnet of seedlings and immediately head back to the garden. Once you’re here, you’ll want to spend at least an hour or so in the nursery, Gift shop and then lunch or a snack, in the Koffee Shoppe.
This is no ordinary Garden Centre. Sure, there’s a huge range of seedlings and established plants here to make your garden look an absolute picture for spring and summer. There are seedling punnets and packets of seeds if you have a passion from starting from scratch. There’s advanced seedling pots, lovely Japanese maples including gracious weeping varieties and the superb variegated form called “Flamingo” And every one of the Dutch Windmill’s pots is doused with slow release fertiliser..or they don’t leave the nursery
The Dutch Windmill also has a lovely range of rhododendron, azaleas and fuchsias in bloom. If you’ve always looked for the answer to growing mild-climate varieties here in the West, sound advice from the experts can set your garden on the road to success.
And what about the gift centre at the Dutch Windmill. Not surprisingly, the centre piece is the superb range of delft blue china. Owner, Eve Byleveld goes shopping in Holland every year to keep stock right up to date. There’s a huge range of delightful nics nacs in the gift centre!. There’s wacky witches….a range of teddy bears, soaps, perfumes, wall plaques and even novelty cats asleep on the floor.
And the all important final piece in the Dutch Windmill jigsaw is The Koffee Shoppe. Debbie and her friendly staff prepare a tasty range of light lunches, quick snacks, Devonshire teas in the afternoon and they also cater for bus tours..and believe me, the Dutch Windmill is VERY popular with tourists and seniors
The Dutch Windmill Garden & Gift Centre & Koffee Shoppe is right at the centre of the massive growth of the southern corridor. Pop down this weekend. They’re at 198 Semple Court in Jandakot right by the corner of North Lake Road. If you’re heading south on the Kwinana Freeway, take the Berrigan Road turnoff. Their phone number is 9417 9583
