The HOME in WA team were guests at the grand opening of Rivergum Design Furniture showroom in Joondalup, with three more showrooms due to open in WA and 18 interstate in the future.
Rivergum Design offer a fine furniture range called “Combinations” in which whole suites of furniture are produced from a single log, unique timber not replicated anywhere else. Hand-crafted dining table, chairs, sideboard, coffee tables….giving a totally coordinated look to the entire room
Frank Colvin comes from a Colvin dynasty of timber craftsmen and with his wife, Susan, heads up the Rivergum Design company. Frank explains how the company obtains its timber supply from CALM contracts and private properties, scrounging the forest floor for fallen timber and recycled timbers from building demolition sites.
Rivergum Design Furniture has set themselves a number of goals
- To help people understand that furniture can last forever rather than being expendable
- Through the establishment of franchise outlets in WA and interstate, to promote the advantages of WA grown and manufactured products, creating more training and employment opportunities in Western Australia.
- To create quality furniture at competitive prices as a realistic option to the present flood of cheap and imperfect imports.
- and to use the “Combinations Range” to spearhead an aggressive export campaign, commencing in 2006 to California and Florida, USA
