This week the crew and I were a little spoilt. Jane invited us to a home she’d recently styled in the affluent Perth suburb of Salter Point. The house was on the market and the owners had enlisted Janes talent to help present it at it’s best.
She began by creating a blank canvas. The old, large and rather chunky furniture that was in there had to go. This was a 9yo house with a Tuscan design so the styling had to match. There were beautiful river views and a large balcony so these kinds of features needed to be presented to perfection too. An opulent house needs opulent décor.
In the living area, I asked Jane how she approaches open plan interiors like this. The key, she explained, is Spatial Design. Understanding and clearly defining each area; lounge, dining and kitchen. Her use of earthy, quite neutral colours was by no means an accident either. Each piece of furniture specifically chosen to compliment the space it fills.
I also discovered her love for what she does. The different challenges she faces with each individual property and how she creatively overcomes those hurdles.
