Master Builders Association ‘Construction Awards’

Tributes of Excellence were paid to the best at the 2007 Master Builders Bankwest ‘Excellence in Construction Awards.’

Once again the award judges praised the high standard of entries, standards achieved in the face of the ongoing boom market and difficulties with labour and material supplies.

The judges were so impressed with the quality of the entrants; they could not separate the two (different) projects by Perth Building Company and Pindan Pty Ltd. So the top honour was awarded to both. (The first time since 1999)

The unusual brief and onerous client requirements meant careful planning and execution of construction by Perth Building Company. The ‘state of the Art’ educational facility comprises laboratories’, holding areas, operating theatres, office amenities and teaching areas and is part of the University of W.A. –The Biomedical Research Facility is off the main campus and based in Shenton Park where the latest sustainable Energy Requirements and building techniques were utilised. The Project also won the Best Public Building Category – over $ 15 million.

The joint winner was also a very challenging project with a host of site difficulties to deal with.

The Category Winner – Best Development comprising Multi-Unit Dwellings – over $ 12 million, was awarded to Pindan Pty Ltd for the ‘Ultra Luxury’ – Cygne Crawley Edge Apartments. Located on busy Mounts Bay Road with a steep sloping site, the exterior use of glass, zinc, aluminium and Indian Slate create a building that is diverse in materials and a showcase of the skills of all trades involved on behalf of Pindan Pty Ltd.

Congratulations to two worthy winners.
